I'm watching this movie on USA channel.

I came in in the middle of it, so maybe I missed something.

It's a USA original movie, so it probably will be re-run a bunch of times.

It's a movie about a movie being made and has / the "actors in peril motiff".

Judd Nelson has one of the leads.

It's Shot on Film, but not all of it is.

They keep cutting to these close-up insert video shots in the middle of supposedly "tense" I'm gonna get you moments.

But the "insert" video shots TOTALLY take me out of the movie, INSTANTLY.

I don't even try to look for the shots, they appear, and I instantly withdraw from the movie!

The only interesting effect that I can derive, is when they cut back from one of these worthless, insipid, take me out of the moment shots, the first time I see a film shot again, I am even more appreciative of the power and impact of film.

I just saw a shot where they put the viewfinder image on the screen, like it's a POV of the invisible camera person who is apparently phantomly shooting a behind the scenes docudrama...so I guess they are not trying to hide the fact video shots are being slipped in....

Nonetheless, the video shots during actual tense movie scenes simply prove that even Super-8mm would hve worked better in those scenes, although, perhaps for their "story" content, perhaps the video makes sense....

Although I ain't seeing it.

And for the most part, they are CLOSE-UP video insert shots....it is as if...

"Hey, we need additional coverage, get extras in the same clothes as the main actors, and get me these close-up insert shots!"

Well, they don't work.

Sure we're entering the age of anything goes, Mix all formats, video and film...

I just wish it would be called something other than a movie....
